A Warmink wall clock from Holland in a Dutch Baroque Revival style, featuring a wooden case with brass ornamentation and a mechanical movement.
The clock presents the rich decorative language associated with traditional Dutch wall clocks, combining sculptural brass elements with a warm-toned wooden case.
The case is crafted from wood with a shaped backplate and projecting cornice. At the top sits an elaborate brass pediment depicting a classical Atlas figure supporting a celestial globe, flanked by heraldic lions and scrollwork. The decorative crest includes the phrase “Nu Elck Syn Sin,” a traditional Dutch motto often seen on historic Zaanse clocks, is a reference to the claim to religious freedom.
The silver-tone dial features Roman numerals, with ornamental corner spandrels, and brass hands on a black velvet base. Twisted brass columns frame the dial, adding depth and vertical rhythm to the façade. Two brass weights hang from chains beneath the case, powering the mechanical movement while adding visual balance to the design. The pendulum is decorated with a rider and the side windows (yellow, stained glass) reveal part of the internal mechanism. The clock strikes once on the half hour and counts the hours on a bell with a clear sound.
The dial is signed Warmink Holland, a Dutch clockmaker known for the tradition of decorative Zaanse-style clocks.
