Wall-mounted barometer with integrated thermometer in a mid-century modern wooden case from the mid-20th century.
The warm tones of the wood and the brass instrument panels give the piece a calm, technical elegance typical of mid-century weather instruments.
The instrument combines a mechanical barometer and a small cylindrical thermometer. The barometer dial is protected by a convex glass cover framed in brass and features Dutch weather indications — Storm, Veranderlijk and Bestendig — surrounding the visible mechanical movement. A second brass-framed window above houses the thermometer scale. The case is made from curved wood with a rich lacquered finish and subtle grain pattern, giving the piece both warmth and architectural presence. The design reflects the practical yet decorative character of mid-century scientific instruments intended for domestic interiors.
