Vintage Hala Zeist T9 Architect Desk Lamp by Herman Busquet | Mid-Century Modern, 1967

This vintage Hala Zeist model T9 architect desk lamp features a spring-balanced articulated arm, a conical metal shade and a circular black base.

Its exposed construction and contrasting black and silver finishes bring a distinctive industrial character to a workspace or reading corner.

The articulated arm uses a two-spring balancing mechanism inspired by the action of muscles around the human hip joint. The two arm sections extend and fold, while the lamp swivels at the base. The shade also rotates and tilts upwards and downwards, allowing the light to be directed onto a work surface or towards a wall for indirect illumination. The on/off switch is positioned at the rear of the black lamp housing.

These lamps came from a former hospital in Rotterdam, adding a connection to their practical working history. Two examples are available, both showing comparable signs of use.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with some signs of age and use, including small spots, minimal dents and some rust. Two lamps are available, both with comparable wear.
