This Hala Zeist Model 751 desk lamp is a Dutch Mid-Century Modern design from 1967 by Dutch designer Herman Busquet.
A precise and functional lighting design with a strong graphic contrast between matte black surfaces and polished metal.
Crafted from metal, nickel-plated elements and aluminum, the lamp combines a circular black base with a sculptural shade and polished flexible gooseneck. The adjustable neck allows the light to be directed for focused task lighting or turned toward a wall for a softer, indirect effect. A black switch is integrated into the back of the shade.
Founded in Zeist in 1932 by Herman Busquet (1914–1977), Hala became one of the leading Dutch lighting manufacturers of the mid-20th century. Alongside his role as director, Busquet worked as an industrial designer and created several notable designs for the company, including the Hala 144, the Sun series and the Pinokkio lamp. During the 1950s and 1960s, Hala stood alongside manufacturers such as Philips and ANVIA as an important name in Dutch lighting design.
The Model 751 reflects the functional clarity and restrained industrial character associated with Dutch lighting design of the period. Today, Hala lamps remain appreciated by collectors for their distinctive design and quality of manufacture.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with some signs of age and use. Some scratches and small dents are present on the metal shade, together with areas of paint loss on the black base. The articulated connection needs to be seated firmly in the rod to keep the lamp head securely in position; if loosened, it can be pushed firmly back into place.
A distinctive yet understated piece of Dutch lighting design, ideal for a desk, reading corner, side table or as directional accent lighting in a living space.
