Mushroom Wall Arc Lamp by Dijkstra | Mid-Century Style

A vintage mushroom-shaped wall lamp with an elegant arc arm, produced by Dijkstra and designed in a Mid-Century style.

Softly curved lines and balanced proportions give this wall light a calm, architectural presence, lending warmth and quiet character to an interior.

The arched swivel arm is made of chromed metal and features a transparent smoked brown plexiglass globe with a perforated aluminum funnel insert, creating a warm and atmospheric light effect. The diffuser directs light downward for ambient illumination, while the rotatable and adjustable arm and sphere joint allow the lamp to be positioned freely. This makes it suitable for both direct light, ideal as a reading lamp, and indirect light when aimed towards the wall, all while maintaining a light and unobtrusive silhouette.

This type of mushroom lamps were produced during the 1960s and 1970s by several well-known Dutch lighting manufacturers, including Dijkstra, Raak, Gepo and Herda. These iconic lamps feature a distinctive Mid-Century Atomic / Space Age design and are characterized by their plexiglass acrylic globes. The design shows clear similarities to the Sagittarius arc lamp from the Globe series, designed by Frank Ligtelijn for Raak Amsterdam.

Based on construction, materials, and known models, this piece is attributed to Dijkstra, reflecting the brand’s characteristic approach to modernist lighting design. Founded in 1922, Dijkstra is one of the oldest Dutch lamp factories, renowned for producing high-quality lighting with architectural elegance. Condition
Excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with the lamp’s age. Fully functional.
There is some wear to the chrome coating on one of the brackets, visible in the photos.
