Dijkstra Mushroom Arc Wall Lamp | Mid-Century Space Age, 1970s

A vintage wall lamp in Mid-Century Space Age design by Dijkstra. This curved-arm mushroom wall lamp features the classic organic silhouette associated with Dutch lighting design of the 1970s.

Crafted in metal and plastic, the lamp features a rounded mushroom shade that emits warm, indirect light, mounted on a curved metal arm. Both the arm and the shade are fully rotatable, allowing the light to be directed left, right, upward or downward. The streamlined form and glossy finish reflect the playful modernist aesthetics of the Space Age era. 
The all-white version is less commonly encountered, clearly marked and preserved in excellent condition.

This type of mushroom wall lamp was produced during the 1960s and 1970s by several well-known Dutch lighting manufacturers, including Dijkstra, Raak, Gepo and Herda. These designs are closely associated with the Mid-Century Atomic and Space Age movement, a period defined by futuristic forms and innovative use of materials.
The lamps are distinguished by their softly rounded mushroom silhouette and the use of plexiglass or acrylic globes, most commonly executed in a warm beige tone. Condition
Excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age and use; fully functional and tested. There is some paint damage, particularly on the bow near the wall mounting (this can be easily repaired with spray paint).
Complete with original suspension bracket / mounting plate (to be fixed to the wall with screws).
